Taskell looks like it’s something I would like to use to import my Archive boards from Trello, but I have no ideas how to really use it otherwise.
Well, I’ve tried it. And there’s something in it. It could be even more useful than the personal Trello. But it’s too minimal. As I get it, you have to forget about the pictures. Otherwise it’s good, I like it.
I won’t switch to it, as I’m fed up with jumping systems. But for any other task where you’d seek for minimalism, it could fit better. It’s just a markdown file that parsed a-la lists in Trello.
Say, you can import your archive board from Trello (I have one huge board for a year) into my current ranger+vim note-taking system.
But on 10+ lists it breaks :) But I would just remove these numbers.
Yeah, I like it. I can use it as a separate tool. As a Trello replacement, no, for sure no. But as a collection of notes, could be. It fits into my system good enough. I can continue using Trello, take notes with my current system. I can make notes as I always do, and then transfer them from Trello and make it the one database.
As of now, I see just two scenarios:
- exporting my board for archivation purposes. If I need this info in .markdown for something. Maybe I can achieve something similar with just a script.
- Or I can use it as a primitive to-do list. It could be more useful than a notebook with tasks. But I think the task list must be synced with a smartphone to be useful.
The roadmap is quite ambitious: https://github.com/smallhadroncollider/taskell/blob/develop/roadmap.md
Summarising, I like the project. But I don’t see real use for it.
