To end a call without making it look like you hung up, switch to Airplane Mode which will show the call as failed.

Last time I used cellular to call someone was in 2010. It’s FaceTime, baby. Airplane mode won’t kill WiFi, it’s pretty smart.

Unless you use mobile data. Then sure.
